History

11 years ago, we (Jordan Birch and Chris Boyd; look up we are the Ugly Sweater Guys above) hooked up with a great friend Scott Lindsay with one goal in mind: to organize the cheesiest, feel-good Christmas party ever.

Yep, The Annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Party was started by three best friends who love theme parties and creating opportunities for true spirit to shine. No enormous marketing machine behind this thing.

It was the beginning of a tradition among our group of friends and has since been officially dubbed the ‘Annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Party™’. The party would have many festive elements: caroling, eggnog, candy canes, mistletoe, tree decorating, Ugly Christmas Sweaters and most importantly, a large dose of holiday cheer!

The first party was in Scott’s living room where we warmly corralled by the fire arm in arm. The gathering was a huge success with the party goers waking up early the next day with dried egg nog on their chins only to mark their calendar for the following year. Two years later, the festive social could no longer be contained within the confined space of a house, so we moved the party to the Highland Pub at Simon Fraser University. In 2005, the party made a leap to an even larger venue, attracting over 400 people all through word of mouth. Our spirit was strong enough to attract and our guests were hooked on true Christmas spirit! In 2006 the celebration moved once again, to one of Vancouver’s premiere show venues, The Commodore Ballroom.

In its sixth consecutive sellout ‘The 11th Annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Party’ will undoubtedly be the biggest and best Ugly Christmas Sweater Party yet. The sweateriest bash of the season will provide first class entertainment, a sellout crowd of 1100 people, and most importantly, partial proceeds going towards our Giving Campaign.
